TIMELY, ADVANCED CARE

Why Patients Choose The Spine Institute

  • Our team includes board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeons specializing in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Drs. Burns, Conti Mica, Gause, and Dohring are members of the world’s most respected spine societies, including the North American Spine Society (NASS), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Lumbar Spine Research Society (LSRS), and the Cervical Spine Society (CSS). Dr. Dohring served as the 2022 President of NASS, the world’s largest organization of spine surgeons.  In 2023, Dr. Dohring was awarded membership to the American Orthopedic Association, an accolade limited to 8% of all orthopedic surgeons who have exemplified the highest level of care and education.

  • Every patient’s spine condition is unique. At The Spine Institute, we tailor each treatment plan to your symptoms, goals, and lifestyle, ensuring a personalized path to recovery. Our concierge spine care approach prioritizes Canadian patients seeking expert, timely evaluations, making sure you get the right diagnosis and care every step of the way.

  • For patients who are not local, we offer virtual consultations for both surgical and non-surgical options. This includes second opinions, treatment planning, and follow-up guidance with our fellowship-trained surgeons. Virtual consults give Canadian patients rapid access to expert spine care without the need to travel before their procedure.

  • We specialize in minimally invasive spine procedures that reduce recovery time, minimize pain, and enable patients to return to daily activities more quickly. Using advanced surgical methods, our fellowship-trained surgeons provide effective care, while limiting disruption to surrounding tissues. Early intervention combined with minimally invasive options ensures optimal outcomes for both operative and non-operative spine care.

  • Our surgeons are fellowship trained in the latest technologies. Many surgeries can be performed using minimally invasive spine surgery through instruments the size of a ballpoint pen or a straw. These techniques require specialized training, and the outcomes with surgery performed in this manner provide better outcomes than the older method which entails a three-inch long incision. Safety and accuracy of these techniques means returning home on the same day of the surgery for Canadians looking for concierge spine care.

  • We understand that traveling for medical care can feel overwhelming. Our dedicated concierge team provides personalized assistance with local accommodations, dining, and activities, helping you make the most of your time in Arizona. From arrival to recovery, we ensure a smooth, comfortable experience and seamless coordination of your care—so you can focus on healing, not logistics.

Your Path to Expert Spine Care

If you have a recent MRI (within the last 12 months), we can conduct a virtual visit to review your treatment options.  At the Spine Institute, we believe in treating patients, not just scans. Our multidisciplinary approach involves a comprehensive review of your medical records, symptoms, and functional goals. The virtual visit is the initial step in establishing a personalized treatment plan.

01. Submit Records

Begin by registering online and sending us your MRI and all medical records relating to your condition. Once received we will schedule your appt.

02. Virtual Consultation with Physician

During your virtual visit, we will discuss your MRI results in the context of your overall health. Our team of experts will explore all treatment options before considering surgery, ensuring a thorough evaluation of your condition.

03. Treatment & Financial Planning

If surgery is recommended it can often be scheduled within a few weeks of your initial consultation. Our care coordinators will help you coordinate scheduling.

04. Travel to Arizona

Once your treatment plan is established, we can handle consultations, pre-operative visits, additional testing, medical clearance, pain management, through our office. Our care coordinators are here to assist you every step of the way.
